Chelsea put Kurt Zouma up for sale as Thomas Tuchel prepares to ditch 10 players after Champions League win

Chelsea are preparing a massive fire sale this summer with 10 players on the chopping block as Thomas Tuchel looks to raise funds for new signings, according to reports.

The west Londoners secured their second Champions League title on Saturday night thanks to a 1-0 victory over Manchester City, but they will not be resting on their laurels and are planning major changes to their playing squad.

While the core of the team that delivered European glory will remain largely unchanged, there are a number of fringe players that Chelsea want to offload – and several first-team players too.

According to The Athletic, Chelsea expect Fikayo Tomori and Olivier Giroud to be the first two players to leave, with AC Milan already in talks to sign the duo.

The young centre-back has enjoyed an excellent spell on loan in Italy and the Serie A giants are ready to trigger their £25million purchase option, while Giroud will move to San Siro on a free transfer when his contract expires.

One of the biggest names Chelsea plan to offload is Kurt Zouma, despite the Frenchman having racked up 36 appearances in all competitions and almost 3,000 minutes on the pitch.

Most of that game time came under Frank Lampard and Tuchel does not believe Zouma fits his style of play, while this could be Chelsea’s last chance to get a sizeable fee for the 26-year-old.

He only has two years left on his current contract and has a number of suitors, though the Blues may be forced to keep him if they fail to land one of their top centre-back targets this summer.

Another high-profile Chelsea player who could be on the move is Tammy Abraham, who was left out of the matchday squads for both the Champions League and FA Cup finals.

With Tuchel having made a new number nine his top priority target this summer, Abraham’s game time would be severely limited again next season and Chelsea know they can likely land a fee of as much as £40million if he is sold.

The rest of the players on the chopping block are effectively deadwood: Ross Barkley, Emerson Palmieri, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Danny Drinkwater, Davide Zappacosta and Michy Batshuayi.

Chelsea’s large contingent of players who have been out on loan this past season will all be given a chance to impress Tuchel in pre-season, though again some of those players may be deemed surplus to requirements too.
