Manchester United returned to first team training on Monday and although many of their players are either still at Euro 2020 or on holiday, 18 were in action at Carrington, including a string of young prospects.
United’s England contingent, including Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford, are getting ready for their semi-final against Denmark on Wednesday, while eliminated players such as Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes are enjoying some time off.
That leaves the players without international commitments to get back to work at Carrington this week, be it the club’s exciting young talents or the seasoned veterans not involved at Euro 2020. In the former category, Tahith Chong, Facundo Pellistri, Teden Mengi, James Garner, Nathan Bishop, Matej Kovar, Ethan Galbraith, Joe Hugill and Dylan Levitt were all seen in action on Tuesday.
The more recognised first team stars in training were Mason Greenwood, Axel Tuanzebe, Brandon Williams, Alex Telles and Nemanja Matic, while new signing Tom Heaton and veteran ‘keeper Lee Grant were also put through their paces.
Pre-season preparation will ramp up quickly with a friendlies against Derby on 18 July, QPR on 24 July and Brentford on 28 July.
There is then a friendly at Old Trafford against Everton on 7 August before the season gets underway at home against Leeds on 14 August, followed by away trips to Southampton and Wolves before the end of the month.
