West Ham want Germany international duo
West Ham hold “firm interest” in Bayern Munich centre-back Niklas Sule and Borussia Monchengladbach star Matthias Ginter, according to ExWHUemployee.
The Germany international duo are both out of contract at their respective clubs in June 2022, but a January deal for Ginter, 27, does not look likely after he told the Bundesliga outfit that he will be leaving as a free agent in the summer.
Sule, 26, could be allowed to leave Allianz Arena next month for a fee as opposed to having him leave for free, and the Hammers could firm up their interest with a bid given their current injury woes at the back.
Solid options
There is expected to be a lot of competition for the signature of the Monchengladbach star once he becomes available for nothing, and West Ham could struggle to pip competition to his services.
However, they have a chance to land his international teammate right now, and they really could do with such a quality option at the back.
Sule is a massive upgrade on Craig Dawson and Issa Diop, and he could prove to be a long-term successor to Angelo Ogbonna.
Standing at 6ft 5in, the German will add more aerial presence to the Irons ranks.
West Ham have been constant threats from set-pieces this term, and having such a player will definitely make them more dangerous in front of goal.
They are challenging for the top-four, and managing to get someone like Sule on board would be mutually beneficial.
Completing a move for the Bayern star would be a huge statement of intent, and they need to offer him a juicy deal if they want to pip competition to his signature.
