Kylian Mbappe makes big Mohamed Salah claim amid Liverpool transfer links
PSG forward Kylian Mbappe has heaped praised on Mohamed Salah as rumours of Liverpool transfer interest in the France star continue to swirl.
Kylian Mbappe has described Mohamed Salah as ‘one of the best players in the world’ and has admitted he is a great admirer of the Liverpool forward.
Mbappe has established himself as an elite talent in recent years at Paris Saint-Germain, though faces a decision to make on his future as Real Madrid and other clubs circle for his signature.
Salah has also proven his ability on a similarly consistent basis to the French forward and is considered by many to be the best player in world football on current form.
Despite his scintillating performances, the Egyptian winger has missed out on claiming individual awards and finished a disappointing seventh place in this year’s Ballon d’Or standings.
The 29-year-old was up for another prize at last night’s Globe Soccer Awards, but it was Mbappe who was named the 2021 Men’s Player of the Year. Karim Benzema, Robert Lewandowski, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo were the other four nominees.
Salah may well have missed out to Mbappe, but the 23-year-old forward was full of praise for the Liverpool star when speaking at the awards ceremony.
“To talk about Mohamed Salah, he’s one of the best players in the world,” said Mbappe.
“He was the sixth finalist on the list at the Globe Soccer Awards [Men’s Player of the Year] and has scored a lot of goals for Liverpool.
“He makes the difference and I love to watch him play. He is a great player.”
Salah finished two places above Mbappe in this year’s Ballon d’Or, having collected 63 more voting points than the 2018 World Cup winner.
But it was Messi who was way out in front on 613 points, some distance clear of both Salah (121) and Mbappe (58).
While Madrid remain hot favourites to land Mbappe from PSG, Liverpool continue to be tentatively linked with a move for the attacker.
